We are interested in hearing from Emergency Medicine physicians to work permanent
or for 12 months or longer within our Emergency Departments throughout the country

  • The size and location of the hospitals requiring staff vary from large tertiary hospitals to small rural community hospitals.
  • An ED specialist working in NZ will earn NZ$250,000 - 280,000
  • Most specialists work 40 hours per week, (30 clinical, 10 non-clinical)
  • 6 weeks paid vacation leave
  • 2 weeks paid CME leave
  • The hospital also covers work related expenses including malpractice insurance and registration fees
  • We will accept applications from board certified or board eligible physicians who are interested in working abroad
(Whilst the $$ compared to USA, UK or Australia may seem low there are benefits which allow a physician work life balance.)
     
NZ Emergency Department
  • New Zealand's healthcare system has a high reliance on overseas-trained doctors. In 2008 41% of doctors working in NZ gained their primary medical qualification overseas. New Zealand communities are therefore well accustomed to receiving care from International Medical Graduates which helps in the transition for a doctor practicing in this country. Overall NZ's publically run health system offers a physician the opportunity to practice in a setting where your patient's welfare comes before productivity.

  • For all of our positions assistance with airfares, car, accommodation, medical licensing and immigration is available. Long term positions offer household relocation assistance and CME allowances. Overseas applicants are invited and must be eligible for registration with Medical Council New Zealand.
